• General information:

  The swamp chestnut oak is a long-lived tree that can grow to be immense. Acorns are very large and have relatively low tannin content. This is a wetlands tree in nature and has a fibrous root system. It is easy to transplant and tolerates more root impact than most oaks. It has the same problem as pin oak with iron chlorosis, and does best in moderately acid soils.
